NETWORK OF TRUST:
1. Background:
Until today, the Incest Trauma Center - Belgrade together with 14 NGOs and GOs succeeded in creating authentic partnership and achieving highly adequate joint assistance for child and adult survivors of gender-based violence.
Our Network is focused on joint action toward both policymakers and general public. It is the only model of co-operation of this kind reached on the territory of Serbia. Since it has already been proven to be significant, it is necessary to provide it with continuity. Still, some of shortcomings that existed at the moment of establishing of our Network continue to be there nowadays as well.
Network of Trust to Fight Gender-Based Violence (in further text: the Network of Trust) is a platform of 16 NGOs and GOs, which started their co-operation through series of roundtables called “It is Time to Talk” organized by the Incest Trauma Center - Belgrade during period June until September 2001. These gatherings had tested willingness for true cooperation of GOs and NGOs that have appeared in the last 10 years as relevant subjects in relation to problem of violence against children and women. 23 organizations and institutions, and 52 individuals took part in 3 meetings.
In October 2001, UNICEF (Child Protection Unit), Belgrade office, came to ITC with the suggestion that ITC should select and co-ordinate organizations that would formalize their cooperation in the form of a network. In that way, considerable number of GOs and NGOs with estimated maximum of willingness for authentic partnership continued joint work.
